UPDATE 1-CNOOC H1 profit drops 19 pct as costs bite

HONG KONG, Aug 21 (Reuters) - China's leading offshore oil
producer CNOOC Ltd, which has bid $15.1 billion for
Canadian oil firm Nexen Inc, reported a 19 percent drop
in half-year net profit as its operating costs rose and it lost
production from an oil spill.
